About Chilkep Suspension

MAGALDRATE+OXETACAINE+SIMETHICONE belongs to a group of antacids, antiulcerants used to treat acidity, heartburn, gas, and stomach ulcers. The stomach is usually protected from the acid by a mucous layer. In some cases, due to excess acid production, the mucous layer gets eroded, which leads to complications like acidity and heartburn. Bloating occurs when the abdomen is filled with gas or air.

Medicinal Benefits of Chilkep Suspension

MAGALDRATE+OXETACAINE+SIMETHICONE belongs to a group of antacids, antiulcerants used to treat acidity, heartburn, gas, and stomach ulcers. MAGALDRATE+OXETACAINE+SIMETHICONE is a combination of three drugs: Magaldrate (antacid), Simethicone (anti-flatulent), and Oxetacaine (Local anaesthetic). Magaldrate works by neutralising excess stomach acid. Simethicone is a mixture of silica gel and dimethicone. It is also known as activated dimethicone. Simethicone works by decreasing the surface tension of gas bubbles, thereby facilitating gas expulsion through flatus or belching (burping). It also prevents accumulation and formation of gas in the digestive tract. Oxetacaine exerts a numbing effect, thereby provides relief from pain due to ulcers or acidic injury in the stomach.

Directions for Use

Take MAGALDRATE+OXETACAINE+SIMETHICONE with or without food. Prescribed dose/quantity of MAGALDRATE+OXETACAINE+SIMETHICONE should be taken by mouth using the pack's measuring cup; shake the bottle well before each use. Depending on your medical condition, your doctor will decide how long you need to take MAGALDRATE+OXETACAINE+SIMETHICONE.

Side Effects of Chilkep Suspension

Like all medicines, MAGALDRATE+OXETACAINE+SIMETHICONE can also cause side-effects, although not everybody experiences them. Constipation, diarrhoea, and intestinal pain are the common side-effects of MAGALDRATE+OXETACAINE+SIMETHICONE. Please consult your doctor if you experience any of these side-effects persistently.

Drug Warnings

Do not take MAGALDRATE+OXETACAINE+SIMETHICONE if you are allergic to any of its contents. Inform your doctor before taking MAGALDRATE+OXETACAINE+SIMETHICONE if you have a history of appendicitis, blockage of the bowel, rectal bleeding, kidney problems; if you are on a low-magnesium diet, or if you have undergone recent bowel surgery. Avoid taking aluminium and magnesium-containing antacids with MAGALDRATE+OXETACAINE+SIMETHICONE. Aluminium containing antacids along with MAGALDRATE+OXETACAINE+SIMETHICONE could lead to constipation and intestinal obstruction, whereas magnesium-containing antacids might cause diarrhoea. Do not take MAGALDRATE+OXETACAINE+SIMETHICONE if you are pregnant or breastfeeding unless prescribed by the doctor. MAGALDRATE+OXETACAINE+SIMETHICONE should not be given to children as the safety have not been established. Avoid consuming alcohol along with MAGALDRATE+OXETACAINE+SIMETHICONE as it could lead to increased acidity.

Drug Interactions

Drug-Drug Interaction:

MAGALDRATE+OXETACAINE+SIMETHICONE may have interaction with anti-hypertensive (Ramipril), hormone (levothyroxine), anti-convulsant (phenytoin), and antacids (aluminium hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide).

Drug-Disease Interaction:

 MAGALDRATE+OXETACAINE+SIMETHICONE may have interactions with renal dysfunction.

Safety Advice

ALCOHOL

Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking MAGALDRATE+OXETACAINE+SIMETHICONE. Alcohol intake leads to increased production of stomach acid, thereby increases acidity and heartburn.

PREGNANCY

Please consult your doctor before taking MAGALDRATE+OXETACAINE+SIMETHICONE if you are pregnant.

BREAST FEEDING

Consult your doctor before taking MAGALDRATE+OXETACAINE+SIMETHICONE; your doctor will decide whether MAGALDRATE+OXETACAINE+SIMETHICONE can be taken by breastfeeding mothers or not.

DRIVING
